About Marc Poisson
From an early age, Marc was absorbed in the art of drawing, painting his first oil paintings when 12 years of age. Mostly self-taught he was fortunate to learn from a few good South African artists, becoming a professional artist in his mid-twenties while working at an art gallery in Johannesburg, South Africa. By his late 20’s this experience motivated him to start painting full time. Through dogged persistence he soon began to have work accepted by galleries until becoming well-known countrywide.
Marc has now lived in Australia for more than 25 years with his wife Janetha and he has been painting professionally for over 40 years, having exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions.
Much of Marc’s career has also been spent in teaching and workshops, and he also spent 6 years working at the Wollongong Art Gallery as a volunteer assistant curator, which profoundly impacted on his appreciation and assimilation into Australian art.
Painting subjects include landscapes, figure studies, seascapes and street scenes impressionistically painted in oils, watercolours, pastels and acrylics with a strong focus on the colour and atmosphere of light.

About Janetha Poisson-Lyon
Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) in 1969, Janetha from an early age loved art, especially drawing figures and portraits which seemed to come naturally. After marrying the well-known South African artist, Marc Poisson over 20 years ago, she has, over time, became adept at painting in oils. She loves capturing the beauty of our magnificent Australian birds in their natural habitat.
Currently Janetha is enjoying success exhibiting in many art shows such as Portland near Lithgow NSW & Scarborough, Thirroul, Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Shoalhaven, Nowra, Bowral and Sydney. She was invited to exhibit in the well-known Gang Gang Gallery in Lithgow and is also currently exhibiting in Woolloomooloo at the Ellipsis Gallery.
As a mainly self-taught artist, she paints subjects that “touch the emotions of persons who enjoy the beauty of our surroundings”, emphasising strong draughtsmanship in a fluid style with a warm, colourful palette and using thick textured oils with a painting knife.
“My chosen subject matter evokes the charm, colour and excitement we find in nature and which brings the joy that enriches our lives, as I hope it does yours.” Janetha Poisson-Lyon
