We are excited to welcome Shoalhaven-based artist Crystal Heart to The Garden Berry for the first time this month. Her exhibition Blooms, Beaches and the Bush is inspired by the gardens, coastal landscape and fauna of the region.
I started out in high school studying Tonal Realism with David Moore (and later with his father Graham Moore) which taught me the value scale of how light (or dark) something is in relationship to the value next to it. Then I allow Mother Nature to choose her colour schemes and compositions.
I had lived a suburban life in Victoria but felt called to connect more deeply with nature and to live in rural locations. This led me to volunteer one day a week with a local wildlife carer. I entered many of my flora and fauna paintings into local art shows and galleries and these sold quickly. I have been a happy hobby artist for many years but would like to develop my talents to reach professional level within the next few years.
I don’t really like the stress of our modern world and prefer to take myself off on day walks to nearby creeks, reserves, beaches or National Parks. At home I set my art supplies up on my kitchen table, put on some lovely background music, make a cuppa and focus on creating my next gift to the world. This could be a landscape, floral study, pet portrait or piece of scratchboard art. I only do originals (no prints) as I feel that a buyer deserves something totally unique. My personal energy signature and source energy are infused into the artwork. It is with great appreciation that I thank you for considering adding my artwork to your home or office space.
