Rebecca Brennan – ‘Light & Landscapes’

“My main aim when painting the natural world is to capture the atmospheric light that shifts over the landscape & the unique beauty of the flora & fauna found only in Australia. My process is driven by building up layers of impasto to bring the organic forms found in rocks, trees, etc to the surface… giving my oil paintings a 3D quality that beg to be touched. As the light changes in the space where these paintings hang, shadows are cast over different areas of the work, really bringing the chosen subject to life.” Rebecca Brennan

From the Illawarra escarpment meeting the ocean, to the rolling hills & vistas of the Shoalhaven, ‘Light & Landscapes’ is an exhibition not to be missed.

For many artists living in Australia, engagement with the landscape is inevitable. Travelling around Australia in her early 20’s, living in remote areas, has given Rebecca a strong sense of spirit and connection to place. Sketching en plain air, she then returns to her studio where she builds layers of impasto and oil paint to convey the mood and the beauty of the chosen scene.

Winning numerous prizes, Rebecca’s work is part of both Wollongong and Kiama Council as well as National and International collections.

‘Light & Landscapes’ will be on display from Wednesday 3rd of July until Wednesday the 24th of July and all artworks are available for purchase.
